DevLog 02 

Hello! I'm here to give a development update for my comedic murder mystery game about talking to death.

What's Been Worked On?

Character Design & Animation

The character select and personality type selections are implemented and working as intended. You can select your character, watch their different movement animations and set your name and personality type. This information is fed to the game instance to be given to the dialogue system.

User Interface

Whilst not finished just yet, the current UI serves it's purpose technically as well as aesthetically, with the character selection UI being part of an empty void and the name, personality and finalisation of the process being part of a job application. The design of both of I plan to be integrated into the narrative.

Personality Type

I have set up four different personality types which will allow the player to choose special dialogue options relevant to their chosen type, similar to how class and statistic related dialogue options can be chosen in many RPGs.

Level & Environment

I have started whiteboxing and importing some of the assets I plan to use. There is an asset pack for UE5 that will provide the majority of my required assets, streamlining the environment design process.

  • Develop inventory system

  • Prototype object manipulation system

  • Develop starting room
