We're Going on a Bear Hunt

A small-scale 3D environment inspired by 2000's horror titles

November 2021 - January 2022

ABOUT

This project was part of one of my first modules studying games design at Manchester Metropolitan University.

I was tasked with creating a 3D environment in Unity, choosing to experiment with fog effects and lighting to create a horror atmosphere inspired by titles such as Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2.

DEVELOPMENT

We're Going on a Bear Hunt was my introduction to using Unity, working with imported assets and terrain modelling tools.

The project includes a modelled and texture-painted terrain [displayed below] alongside imported assets and a simple script which reintroduced me to object-orientated coding methodologies

SOFTWARE & SKILLS

Prior to this project I had a lack of experience using a 3D-able game engine and had only created 2D projects using software such as Gamemaker or PyGame.

I was introduced to Unity, Visual Studio and C#. I also used my experience from an introductory unit to model and texture the teddy bear asset used in the scene.
